Startup founders are often visionaries fuelled by a passion to change the future with innovative ideas and more efficient and clever ways of operating. The downside of this, and something I have experienced myself is “shiny penny syndrome” – the risk of becoming distracted by new and exciting ideas. Startup founders need to learn to focus and not take on so many projects that the execution will suffer. Working closely with my mentor Andrew Smith, CEO of CEHS, I’ve learnt to become laser-focused and keep my team pinpointed onto shared goals.
